Many varieties in contemporary drapes
Most contemporary drapes are considered contemporary contemporary drapes. This is because of the fact that they go with almost any decor. They offer you a modern alternative to shutters or blinds in the various designs that are available. These can be used in a bathroom, living room, kitchen or bedroom. They are available in many different materials such as silk, linen and polyester that can affect the prices of the contemporary drapes. Pinch pleated drapes are one of the most contemporary contemporary drapes. They are very sleek contemporary drapes and can be made from silk as well as other materials. They are a very elegant curtain.
One place that requires contemporary drapes is a patio door. These doors are usually made of sliding glass and require a wide curtain. They can be a problem in terms of leaking air around the seals of the doors. Some contemporary drapes provide insulating properties that some blinds, shades and shutters do not so they make a perfect replacement window treatment. Some of the contemporary drapes that are available as a patio door treatment are designer contemporary drapes. The prices of these can be somewhat more costly than other forms of contemporary drapes. Other styles of contemporary drapes are not appropriate for a patio door such as country style contemporary drapes.
Country style contemporary drapes add a touch of charm and warmth to your home. Some of the most popular country styles are ones that are ruffled. They sometimes have a valance although not all of this style has one. They are usually used in the kitchen and are very similar to Cape Cod contemporary drapes. They are one of the most common contemporary drapes for kitchens and bathrooms. Their prices are some of the most inexpensive of all contemporary contemporary drapes and can be used almost anywhere in the house.
Contemporary contemporary drapes can include contemporary drapes that are ruffled. These are good for a girl’s room, bathroom or living room and can be any color you need. They can be made of polyester, linen or any other type of fabric that is appropriate for contemporary drapes. Retailers sell a large variety of these that sometimes include little boy’s contemporary drapes as well. They can be printed with fire trucks, cowboys, cartoon characters and of a number of other designs. They offer privacy by obstructing the view from outside.
Contemporary contemporary drapes are some of the most common available. There are many varieties and options for consumers to choose from that will fit any budget as well as any decor. If you are unable to find what you are looking for locally, do a general search online to find what you want. Many online retailers offer discounts on not only the contemporary drapes themselves but on shipping as well. You may even consider having yours custom made to your exact measurements and choices. Many of this style of contemporary drapes are jacquard so they are thicker than linen or polyester contemporary drapes. This also makes them much heavier.
Ideas for contemporary drapes
Today’s residential window treatments come in a vast variety of options. Some are designed strictly to provide aesthetic appeal, while others served dual purposes in keeping the home comfortable, or blocking noise and light. contemporary drapes ideas have truly revolutionized the effectiveness of window coverings and what they do to improve or day-to-day comfort. Even better, prices on curtains have not increased because of these improvements. Many drapes and curtains are available at very reasonable, even wholesale prices at sites like smithandnoble.com and drleonards.com.
New styles turn your curtains into focal points in your decor. Asian curtains, for example, bring a touch of the Eastern culture into your house. Whether your decor is modern or classic, these beautifully designed curtains become as important in the balance of your living room or bedroom as a wall hanging or a piece of art. The White Bonzai Faux Silk Bamboo Design Rod Pocket Curtain, for example, has a feel of real silk, and depicts a design of bamboo. The overall effect is stunning.
If you are hoping that your curtains will do more than just decorate your home, consider a solar curtain. These are very inexpensive, and can, in fact, be sold by the roll and cut to fit. This is ideal for the kitchen or the bathroom, where windows can be of an irregular size. Place this curtain between your window and curtain, and it will block damaging UV rays, and well as stop the flow of heat and cool air through the window. You can order panels from Dr. Leonard’s, through the retailer’s website.
Decorating a child’s room can be challenging, especially if you are trying to achieve a personal look without painting or wallpapering the walls. Adding curtains or drapes chosen by the child will break up the monotony of white walls, and it is a financially reasonable opportunity to use some of your child’s ideas for decorating his/her room. The Fresh as a Daisy Panels at landofnod.com are lovely and can have a lasting place in your child’s heart as she grows up.
There are also curtain systems for those who are handicapped or elderly living on their own. For some, simply opening and closing one’s curtains each day can be a real challenge. Motorized curtains can ease at least that one issue. These systems will open and close your drapes with the touch of a remote control. Hang this as a replacement for traditional curtain rods, and you can usually use your own drapes, as long as the size is appropriate. The Remote Control Automatic Electrical Window Curtain Single Track Double Window is ideal for a large picture window or door wall.
For those who love the convenience of shades but desire the ornate appeal of curtains, balloon curtains may be the answer. These shades are generally made of cotton or a cotton/polyester blend, and come in a vast variety of colors and designs. They feature one to four or five gathers at the bottom, so that when you open them (vertically as a shade), the material creates poufs between the gathers. The Balloon Fabric Shades have multiple gathers, creating a decorative row of poufs.
Help! Can plaid drapes work in a Modern/Contemporary living room?
I’ve found some chocolate/gold plaid drapes at JCP.com that are just gorgeous…but I’m worried if they’ll work in my modern living room. Currently, the only thing that’s in my living room is my modern sofa…no lamps…or decorative pieces I have tall ceilings…so the length would be 95". Although they are plaid, the drapes seem to have a stripe of gold running from the top to the bottom the drapes…sort of elongating them. Below are the links to the modern sofa (from Rooms to go), and the Plaid drapes (from JCP.com)
Please help fast…I need to place the order for the drapes within the next few hours, if you think they can work in my living room.

Is living a life in delusion as fulfilling as seeing what is real?
We have hundreds of thousands of Gods that have gone the way of the dinosaurs and not even left their bones behind. We have tens of thousands of active gods on the planet today. Each group claiming that their god or gods are the only true or real god or gods. Each group making its own special plea for their own personal reality. In their belief they separate themselves from others. They create friction and friction leads to disagreements, arguing, disputes and even wars. Is it not clear that we are all just people seeking to explain our existence. That our religiosity is simply a product of what we were born into. If you were born into India you would be a Hindu. If you were born into Thailand, you would be a Buddhist. If you were born into Japan, you would be a Shintoist. If you were born into China you would follow the Chinese traditional religions. You are not your religion but rather is is simply a story that you have chosen to see as true. It is only true by virtue of the fact that it asserts itself to be true. En mass the people of the world bow to their make believe Gods and have done so since the beginning of human existence, but what have the Gods actually done? Each religion attributes the same old garbage to each of their gods. Anything at all that we do not understand must be of God. Is it not time to wake from the dream? Are you really fulfilled living in a cave of darkness? Is it not time to undo the binds of religion and recognize it for what it is; a means of social control and group identification. Is it not time to shake free the shackles of dogma and step to the mouth of the cave where you can look out across the land.
In one breath your Gods tell you that you have a free will and in the next that you are sheep. In one breath they express that you are free to choose, and in the next, your fate is determined. Do you not get that the Churches of the world and religions of the world do not actually know anything at all. Their knowledge is based on tradition. Most do not even know if their founders were ever real people. Moses in the Christian faith for example. There is no evidence at all to suggest he ever existed. Even the existence of Jesus can be questioned as there are no writings contemporary to his time that mention him or his ability to perform miracles. Paul does not even know about the life of Jesus. The only thing he asserts is that he (Jesus) died on the cross. Paul knows nothing at all about the life of the Christ or his disciples and he was supposedly closest to him. The stories of Jesus come hundreds of years later. Can no one see the fabrications and manipulation of religion? Is it so hard to step out from the darkness and see the world around you? To understand that people are controlled by religion all over the world? That control and bondage is the goal of religion. That religions themselves care nothing about individuals and everything about expanding, gaining more power, and gaining more control over the world. Is it not obvious that the money that should be spent on feeding the 70% of the world’s population who are living in poverty has gone to the expansion of the church. The money is spent on palace like structures with stained glass windows, immaculate grounds, Twelve foot high crosses, idols of all kinds, hand crafted wooden pews, luxurious carpets and drapes, and all the trimmings. How do you people live with yourselves?
Dressing up in fine suits and dresses on sundays. Going into your palaces of worship. Pretending that you are doing some good in the world. The cash you spent on your Sunday best could feed a family for a year. People are surviving on a dollar a day. One suit at a cost of 0.00 could double a family’s income for a year. And there you sit, praying to your god. For what? What in the hell is it you think you need? Another computer game, a new TV, a better job, a bigger house. Do you not see you are delusional? Wake UP! What are you doing? What are you really doing?
Creating my own King size headboard…HELP!>?
I would like to create my own King Size headboard for our bed. I’ve been shopping for new bedroom sets and nothing is quite what I am looking for. I seen an episode of that home make over show and there was one where they made a headboard. I’m going to have it against a red wall and my theme is contemporary, black white red. The picture in my head is black… with button stitches… or dark wood black, with a red centered (not sure the word I am looking for) pudgy, pillowing kinda part that has the cris cross stitching with button accents… I am probably not explaining it right… Any idea where to start and how to go about this project? My husband is a general contractor and thinks I am nuts and just wants me to go buy one…. Any other ideas of how to create a headboard? I was also thinking of no head board and simply hanging like a black panel against the wall and draping it to look like a headboard……I am no interior designer thats for sure but I am looking for the cheapest, best looking design, and original!! Definately original.. Again, furniture is black (dressors, night stands.. etc… bedding is black white, with red accents… room walls are white with the exception of the red wall the bed will sit against (headboard sits against)… anyway…looking for some ideas on how to make this work…any other tips or recommendations for the layout or decorating.. please share!

colors for a room?
I am 14 and I am planning on re-doing my room completely.. i have a somewhat medium sized room, its just a regular square, no weird shapes. I’m planning on getting a more contemporary look. I write a lot, so I am going to cover my entire left wall with a dry erase board so I can just write on my wall what comes to mind, put up my photography, etc.. it will be my art wall I guess
D I want the whole theme to be black white and red..
******What colors on a wall make the room look smaller or larger?
What will painting the far back wall red and the rest white do?******
I plan on white and black bedding with a white sheer drape over my bed and white sheers as curtains.. maybe a black dresser.. and a beige rug.
Hijabis: i want your opinion on this………?
"A minority of contemporary Muslims believe that the commandment to maintain modesty must be interpreted with regard to the surrounding society. What is considered modest or daring in one society may not be considered so in another. It is important, they say, for believers to wear clothing that communicates modesty and reserve in the situations in which they find themselves.
Along with scriptural arguments, Leyla Ahmed argues that head covering should not be compulsory in Islam because the veil predates the revelation of the Koran. Head-covering was introduced into Arabia long before Muhammad, primarily through Arab contacts with Syria and Iran, where the hijab was a sign of social status.
Leila Ahmed argues for a more liberal approach to hijab. Among her arguments is that while some Koranic verses enjoin women in general to Qur’an 33:58–59. “draw their Jilbabs (overgarment or cloak) around them to be recognized as believers and so that no harm will come to them.” and Qur’an 24:31. “guard their private parts… and drape down khimar over their breasts [when in the presence of unrelated men]”, they urge modesty but do not mention the word hijab or the covering of the head, neck, etc.
According to Leila Ahmed, nowhere in the whole of the Koran is the term hijab applied to any woman other than the wives of Muhammad.
They argue that the term darabat al-hijab ("taking the veil"), was used synonymously and interchangeably with "becoming Muhammad’s wife", and that during Muhammad’s life, no other Muslim woman wore the hijab. Aslam suggests that Muslim women started to wear the hijab to emulate Muhammad’s wives, who are revered as "Mothers of the Believers" in Islam, and states "there was no tradition of veiling until around 627 C.E." in the Muslim community."
@ sleepy:: oh trust me sister, i know what you mean!! like it’s no big deal to cover up.. if only i could…unfortunately my mom makes that impossible.. i’m only 17 and have to listen to her otherwise she yells at me a lot and all that..Insha’Allah I can wear it when i’m older and out of the house…keep me in your prayers ![]()
Color details in my livingroom?
I am trying to figure out how to redecorate my livingroom. The color scheme is mostly khaki, chocolate and expresso; the walls are brown paneling (yuck, but I can’t paint over them) and the carpet is white with flecks of tan and brown. I have a couple of bamboo plants in vases, a bamboo runner on my coffee table, cool green and some tan printed materials on my speakers and tables. Most of the things I have are I guess you’d say from other cultures: India, China, etc. But how do I incorporate that into a contemporary livingroom without making it feel like it’s mismatched? Also, when I’m grouping objects, do they all need to be in the same color family? I have a cool orange vase and a green one that I thought I might try to incorporate into the room, but the rest of my things don’t seem to go with those colors. I thought I might try teal or bright colored drapes and a large wooden bowl with artificial lemons on my coffee table to help add color to the room? Any suggestions I might use to make my livingroom look better? Thanks!
